Some characters are inseparable from a colour. Grimace is one of them.
EDITOR'S NOTE / This is an introductory dossier, not a verbatim reproduction of an X thread. Documented facts, interpretations and open leads are kept distinct.
The older reference
McDonald’s own archival material records Grimace’s changing design: it describes a four-armed version in 1979 and a two-armed version in 1990, while the purple colour remained. That gives researchers a concrete historical timeline to work with.
The modern reappearance
A 2024 McDonald’s Australia announcement described Grimace as a purple character central to the launch of the Grimace Shake locally. The colour remains part of official branding decades after the early designs.
Where the rabbit hole begins
The Purple Elite question is not merely “what else is purple?”. It is whether particular representations, dates, words or visual arrangements form a meaningful connection—and whether an earlier primary source confirms it.
