The most durable internet lore often begins with a recognisable image. Each reuse changes what the image means.
EDITOR'S NOTE / This is an introductory dossier, not a verbatim reproduction of an X thread. Documented facts, interpretations and open leads are kept distinct.
The symbol as shorthand
Sproto operates as a visual anchor for the HPOS10I community. Repetition creates recognition; recognition makes it easier to attach new references to the same figure. A picture that began as a joke can become an archive of other jokes.
That makes visual provenance especially important. Who made the first version? Which elements appeared later? Which variations came from members of the community rather than the original source?
A better way to collect it
For each image, save the earliest verifiable appearance, identify what was added in subsequent edits and link it to other works that use the same motif. A family tree of variants can be more revealing than a wall of screenshots.
The open question
Which Sproto reference is the oldest that can still be sourced? This archive will keep the answer open until someone provides the necessary evidence.
